Discovering the Hidden Past
The Wells & Transatlantic Slavery project is dedicated to exploring the connections between the city of Wells and the transatlantic slave trade.
Through research, community engagement, and education, we seek to uncover the hidden stories of slavery and its lasting impact on our society.
Uncovering Hidden Connections
Our research has uncovered many previously unknown connections between Wells and the transatlantic slave trade. From the prominent slave traders who lived and worked in the city, to the buildings and institutions that were built with the profits of slavery, we are uncovering a hidden history that has been long overlooked.
Community Engagement
As part of our commitment to community engagement, we are working with local organizations and individuals to encourage dialogue and reflection on the legacies of slavery in our society. By working together, we can better understand the impact of slavery on our community and work towards a more just and equitable future.
